WordPress is dead to me.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been struggling with the idea of ditching WordPress to move to Tumblr or Squarespace. A few of my friends are starting to use Squarespace, since it’s very easy to use—with drag and drop design—and still visually awesome.
By the way…”visually awesome” is my term now. Feel free to use it, but I want my name and a little “TM” beside it. I’m kind of self-absorted like that.
I love WordPress and all the power behind it, but with the very little amount of free time and very large amount of work I have, designing and coding a number of php files would be almost impossible.
But Tumblr is not a “blogging” platform, you say? We’ll it’s true that there is no comments system, and I like comments very much, but I’d rather keep our dialogue in real-time using Twitter and other instant forms of communication. My new blog will be a place to share, collaborate and vent my thoughts to the world. With Tumblr, you can reblog and share content that I find, as well as like posts that are equally awesome.
When I moved from Blogger to WordPress last year, I alienated close to 60 religious followers of my blog. With Mint installed, I knew many still checked back at the domain to see if new content was posted to no avail. Tumblr will allow me to continue to produce quality content, without the high-maintenance of WordPress.
Enjoy!
